Course Pathway        

   

Content

Certificate I in Sport and Recreation introduces students to the sport and recreation industry. The horticulture, administration, hospitality and retail units also introduce students to the functions of working in a sport industry environment.

 

The core units are 

  • prepare for work in business

  • complete daily work activities

  • apply basic communication skills

  • plan skills development

  • follow environmental work practice

  • operate a personal computer

  • operate a word processing application

  • provide first aid

  • create client relationships

  • develop knowledge of the sport and recreation industry

 

Any one of the following specialisations may be included

 

  • amenity horticulture

  • general administration

  • hospitality

  • retail

 

Five electives are also included in this course.

These may be units from Certificate 1 qualifications within Training Packages from other industries.

 

Duration     

                          

12 weeks (1 term) including one week holiday

 

 

Cost

 

Enrolment Fee $350

Tuition Fee (including English language support) $2,850.
Workbooks and Library membership $195.

Each term – January, April, July or September/October

 

 

Pre-requisites  

       

English language

     IELTS 3.5 (or equivalent)

 

 

Educational Qualifications

 

     Grade 9 (or equivalent)

Arrangements with other providers for recognition of this course and completed components of this course are currently being negotiated. Details will be confirmed prior to course enrolment.

 

 

Positions available

 

Successful graduates of this course will be able to

  •        demonstrate knowledge by recall in a narrow range of areas;

  •        demonstrate basic practical skills such as the use of relevant tools;

  •        perform a sequence of routine tasks given clear direction;  and

  •        receive and pass on messages/information.

and should gain employment into a position requiring these skills relevant to the units completed
