Teaching
Methods
Both the
practical and theory work for this course are set in a sport
and recreation environment. Students are taught while having a
‘hands on’ experience completing tasks in an incorporated
sporting club. This club has been set up by previous Ausintec
students and continues to operate under the direction of the
students.
We have
found that students are more highly motivated to learn this
type of ‘real life’ atmosphere.
Field Trips
are also included to further students’ knowledge of the Sport
and Recreation industry in Australia.
English language support is
offered continually throughout the course/s as many of our
industry teachers are also qualified English language
teachers.
Assessment
Methods
Both the
practical and theory work for this course are assessed in the
environment of a sporting club.
Depending on
the unit being assessed, tasks may include
-
Communication with members and potential
members
-
Coaching club members
-
Administration of the club, including marketing
and website development
-
Contribution to meetings, including Committee
positions
-
Working parties within the club
-
Club projects
-
Other associated club activities
Where it is
not practical for tasks to be assessed within the club
environment, a simulated situation will be prepared.
