It’s an English language support program with an equine twist. International students can learn English while having fun on horseback. Riding alongside Australian students under the instruction of English speaking riding instructors, you can brush up on your grammar while learning to rise to the trot, jump a small fence or clear a shallow ditch. Tentative Schedule is listed below

   Riding

Starting with one-on-one individual instruction, you will work on the lunge line (a long rein attached to the horse) to develop a safe, balanced, independent seat. Gaining confidence, balance and co-ordination, you will soon progress to rising trot and be able to turn, start and stop your horse all by yourself. Taken off the lunge rein, you will move on to a faster paced canter work, where you will learn the art of lateral work and jumping.

   Horse Management

Working on a ‘buddy’ system with English-speaking tutors, you will also be given 'hands on' experience caring for, feeding and handling your own horse – which AUSINTEC provides during the length of your stay. You will also be taught how to groom your trusted steed and pick out its feet as well as saddle and unsaddle for each ride.  Towards the end of your study tour, you could prepare your horse for a competition, shampooing and plaiting its mane and tail, blackening the hooves and cleaning your tack for a friendly ride-off.

   Riding Competitions

Group study tours can include riding competitions where the students enter AUSINTEC’s purpose-run competitions.  With all the rules given in English, the winners and place-getters are awarded ribbons – what more motivation do you need to learn English?

   Proficiency Certificates/Student Pathway

As well as study tours and short courses you can work toward proficiency certificates during your stay. Embarking on the pathway toward Vocational Education, you will have the opportunity to take AHRC (Australian Horse Riding Centres) proficiency certificates.  These certificates give you qualifications in horse management, basic flat-work riding, dressage riding, showjumping riding and cross-country riding as well as trail riding.  AUSINTEC is currently negotiating with an Australian University for second year degree entrance on completion of the 'Course in Equestrian Coaching (EFA/NCAS Level 1 General and EFA/NCAS Level 1 Non Jumping).

   Riding Instruction

The student's safety is our first priority, and our workplace health and safety policy indicates that the students are taught riding by qualified/experienced equestrian coaches.  These lessons are taught in English, with the majority of instructors being native speakers. Instructors with second language skills are also available.

   English Alternative

If you are happy with your level of English, you can replace your English lessons with extra riding
